Publix Savings Brings Total Savings for Week to $245.09
I love grocery shopping at Publix. They have a very liberal coupon policy: they double manufacturer’s coupons with a face value of .50¢, they accept competitor’s coupons, and they let you stack coupons.
The Publix I go to also has the most awesome cashier – Lori – who has the patience of a saint with us crazy coupon people. Lori is so great that I will actually stand in line to check out through her register rather than go straight to the checkout at someone else’s register.
I planned a pretty big shopping trip today. I walked out a few items shy of what I had wanted, but I still had a buggy full of groceries. I also had rain checks for the items that Publix was out of. The groceries that I did purchase today included:
(2) Coke 12 packs
(1) jar T. Marzetti’s Dressing
(1) 5 lb bag apples
(2) box Band-Aid’s – 60 cnt
(2) tubes Neosporin
(2) bags Publix corn chips
(1) Raspberries (pint)
(1) Blueberries (pint)

(1) dozen eggs
(1) gallon soy milk
(1) container sour cream – 8 oz
(1) box Cheezits

(2) bags Laughing Cow Baby Bell singles
(3) bottles Lawry’s Marinade
(1) jar Hellmann’s mayo – 30 oz
(2) boxes Success boil-in-bag rice

My grocery total before advertised specials and coupons would have been $149.01, but my actual total after specials and coupons came to $42.71. That is a savings of $106.30, or almost 71.5%.
I bought plenty of fresh produce for the week, enough dairy to stretch what I have on hand for a couple of weeks, a little bit of meat to compliment what is already in the freezer, some snack and beverages (that I would probably be better off without). I also purchased a respectable amount of stockpile items to round out meals over the course of the next few months.
After two days of shopping, I’ve spent $57.71 for $302.80 in groceries, toiletries and cosmetics, school supplies, pet food, and more. My coupons have netted me a savings of $245.09 this week, and I have an absolutely obscene amount of food to show for it. I am over my $50 a week budget by $7.71, but I will probably be able to come in under budget over the next two weeks so I am not too concerned about the overage. Don’t look for any more shopping trips from me until the end of the week. In addition to being over budget, I am tired of shopping for the time being and I have other things that need to get done.
